Joining the ACE-VSS database isn't like signing up to a freelance marketplace. You won't be competing with hundreds of others for the same brief. You'll be matched — deliberately — with clients whose needs, communication style, and working culture genuinely fit yours.

A note on the placement fee

When you're placed with a client through ACE Match Standard, a one-time placement fee applies — this is separate from your client compensation. It is a database access fee covering the matching, vetting, and coordination ACE-VSS does on your behalf. Your agreed compensation with the client is yours in full. We do not deduct from it.

Our database is not open-entry. We accept applications on a rolling basis and only add professionals who meet the ACE standard. If you apply and aren't accepted immediately, your application may be held for future consideration.

Currently open to professionals based across Africa, serving clients globally. Specialisations listed are indicative placeholders — this list will grow as the database expands.

Application Form

15 questions covering skills, portfolio, availability, work style, accountability approach, and values alignment.

Portfolio Review

Your work is assessed across five dimensions. Strong portfolios advance quickly. A hold/watchlist option exists — rejection isn't the only outcome.

Interview Call

A 30-minute structured call scored on our 100-point ACE scorecard. Neurodivergent-aware — we evaluate capability and character, not how polished your delivery is.

Database Activation

Welcome pack, security briefing, and written acknowledgement before any client is introduced. You're in — matched when the right client comes along.

On our neurodivergent-aware assessment: We understand that not everyone performs at their best in structured interview settings. Our scorecard assesses real capability — including how you communicate, handle ambiguity, and respond to feedback — not how polished your delivery is.

The 30-Day Internal Review

After your first placement, ACE-VSS conducts a structured internal review across five areas. This is not punitive — it's how we ensure the match is working well for both you and your client, and how we support your continued success in the database.
